Pianist Gerald Nicholas
The choir is made up of around 40 ladies ranging in age from 20 to 80+. Choir members come from all over Pembrokeshire to learn and perform a wide variety of music ranging from classical pieces to traditional and popular songs, and those with a fun element like ‘Big Spender’ & ‘All that Jazz’. In addition to their formal concerts, the choir regularly sing for residents at area nursing homes and provides music for weddings and corporate events.
The choir has sung outside of Wales on several occasions, performing in Bruges, The Netherlands, England, Scotland, and Ireland. In May 2009 they travelled to Oberkirch, Germany, to celebrate twenty years of Oberkirch’s twinning with Haverfordwest, returning in October 2014 for the 25th Anniversary celebrations.
The choir has been invited on several occasions to sing for various Civic Services, including a service for the Annual Meeting of The National Association of City and Town Sheriffs of England and Wales held at St. Mary’s Church, Haverfordwest in 2007.
New members of all ages are welcome at any time. The choir rehearses on Thursday evenings from 7.30-9.30 pm in The Catholic Church Hall, Dew Street Haverfordwest. The ability to read music is helpful but not a requirement – what is required is a love of singing and the willingness to work together towards the common goal of performing to the highest possible standard.
