The 90th anniversary of the Haverfordwest branch of the British Legion was marked by a Celebration Concert in St. Mary"s Church on Saturday 21st April. The performers were the Goodwick Brass Band, fresh from their recent success as Welsh champions, and the Haverfordwest Ladies Choir.

The Band, under their conductor Matthew Jenkins, delivered eight items, ranging from "Champions", the original composition of band member Ryan Howells, through the haunting grace and solemnity of "Abide with me" to Andrew Lloyd Webber and Johann Sebastian Bach, featuring along the way fine solos from Ryan Howells on tenor horn and Luke Jenkins on flugel horn..

The Choir, under their conductor Nancy Mann and accompanied by Gerald Nicholas, sang six pieces, as various as two of John Rutter"s adaptations of two Elizabethan madrigals and the Elvis Presley favourite, "Can"t help falling in love". They concluded, with Carol Mayhew as soloist, in a rendering of the now-famous Military Wives' Prayer.

The concert ended with Ken Humphreys reading the Moina Michael poem, "We shall keep the faith", followed by the Last Post, The Silence, The Rouse and the National Anthems.
